The planning approval included the need for a piece of public art. To full-fill this obligation Lavenham Community Land Trust held a competition, which was won by Lorraine MacDonald Griffin. This is the first public art installation in the village of Lavenham.
Lorraine met in full the brief to create a work or a series of works that are appealing for both residents and visitors alike and be functional. In developing her proposal she was required to investigate Lavenham - its history, settlements, landscape and wildlife - in order to create a Work that best reflects this unique area.
Following extensive engagement by Lorraine with the children and older residents of Lavenham, the final outcome takes pride of place at the centre of Peek Close.
